Our history: tradition with a future

  • Schmenger Leder was founded in 1932 in Pirmasens. At that time, the city was one of the centers of the German shoe industry and a highly competitive leather merchant market. We have kept our headquarters in Pirmasens to this day.
  • Over the decades, we have continued to expand our business by acquiring new customers (e.g., from the fashion industry or the upholstery industry) and new suppliers of goods, both domestically and abroad.
  • Since the 1970s, we have continuously adapted our business operations to respond to somewhat radical upheavals in the market. Despite some difficult times, we have become one of the few reputable German companies in the leather business.
Today our expertise is more relevant than ever. We understand our markets and how to operate as a distributor so that our customers are guaranteed the maximum added value. That is why we are optimistic about the future and are always ready for a new challenge. And we’re ready for yours.
